MY WEBSITE AND PODCAST ARE INTENDED TO HELP PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND OTHERS LEARN TO EXAMINE BEHAVIOR BASED UPON THE SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN APPROACHES OF APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS. INFORMATION IS PRESENTED VIA HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIOS OF BEHAVIORS AND APPROACHES THAT CAN BE TAKEN TO UNDERSTAND THE BEHAVIORS THAT ARE ILLUSTRATED.
I AM HARLA FRANK AND I HAVE BEEN A BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST SINCE 2007.
I GRADUATED FROM FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY WITH A MASTER'S DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY, WITH AN EMPHASIS IN APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS.
SINCE 2007, I HAVE HAD A PRIVATE PRACTICE, WORKED FOR SEVERAL BEHAVIORAL COMPANIES, AND TAUGHT THOUSANDS OF DEDICATED APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS STUDENTS AT PURDUE UNIVERSITY GLOBAL.
IT IS MY BELIEF THAT PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND OTHERS WOULD BENEFIT FROM AN UNDERSTANDING OF WHY PEOPLE BEHAVE THE WAY THEY DO - WITHOUT HAVING TO EARN A DEGREE TO GAIN THAT UNDERSTANDING. SO, I PRESENT HYPOTHETICAL SCENARIOS AND POSSIBLE APPROACHES TO UNDERSTANDING BEHAVIOR IN RELATABLE AND, I HOPE, ENTERTAINING TERMS.
The information and views expressed in the “What’s in It for Me? Understanding Your Child’s Behavior” podcast is presented based upon Ms. Frank’s education and experience in applied behavior analysis and is intended to help parents, teachers, and others understand how to identify the purpose of individual human behaviors in order to effectively address behavior based upon the hypothesized purpose. Typical examples of behaviors are presented with approaches used by behavior analysts to understand the function of the behavior in order to identify possible function-based approaches to the behaviors. Only through an evidence-based Functional Behavior Assessment can individual behaviors be examined and the function of the behaviors hypothesized. The podcast is intended as a guide for understanding behavior, but it is not intended to diagnose or treat specific behaviors. Ms. Frank will not be responsible for the use of education-based examples appearing in her podcast or on her website used by her listeners or viewers.
While I may not be able to address every topic of interest in my podcast, or on my website, I'd like to address as many as possible. :) Please E-mail me topic suggestions at harla@understandingyourchildsbehavior.com
I look forward to beginning the conversation!
